@a2_4am a question I have been meaning to ask. Why in your opinion did something like passport not exist ‘backthen’? Why wasn’t copy II+ or its contemporaries able to do this? What about ‘now’ let this amazing software happen?

@david I mean, it kind of did. Super IOB was in the same family, but designed to be extended by hobbyists in BASIC. Commercial copiers were terrified of getting sued for facilitating piracy, to the point that Locksmith up to version 4.x would embed your serial number in every protected backup it made.
