@mwlucas By asking it in that way (2 questions, potentially inverted values), it makes it difficult to interpret the results!

Getting Home Assistant running in a #FreeBSD 13.1 jail

It's a combination of 4 packages and a handful of pips.

Not covered: creating the jail, getting TLS running, configuring #homeassistant.

@a2_4am how concerned should I be with real hardware and real data using images from the internet?

@a2_4am When doing your archival work and the like, how much do you worry about the Apple II and IIgs viruses that existed back then and bringing them forward into the present?

@a2_4am Hmm, I have never heard of Super IOB. But the legal threat makes sense.

@a2_4am a question I have been meaning to ask. Why in your opinion did something like passport not exist ‘backthen’? Why wasn’t copy II+ or its contemporaries able to do this? What about ‘now’ let this amazing software happen?

@lattera @jerry I have ever so often had machines with that kind of problem, not in a SUPER long time though; what is the machine configured to use for its time source?

sysctl kern.timecounter

@lattera and amazing. only 1 of the ones i knew about were in this set. And that one didn’t even affect 13.1. So there are at least 3 more ENs that aren’t even released

@lattera FINALLLY... I've been waiting for a bunch to hit officially. I've hit at least 4.. so i know there's got to be a bunch more

@lattera I remember in Irix the zero address was actually used for something important.. and it's like.. COME ON MAN, that's an important sentinel value!

Saw a great shoutout to by John Carmack in an interview today... just totally namedropping that he reads the kernel.,

@scanlime BTW, is robotodyssey.online "you"? I saw you had the chip reverse-engineerer (I'd call it a decompiler, but it is a chip!) and linked to robotodyssey.online, but unsure if that is actually 'you'
